How to Get Involved
Queensland Environment Day is a launching pad, not a destination. Here are practical ways to take action for Queensland's environment, most of them don't cost anything and don't need to wait for 5 June.
Ways to Get Involved
Volunteer locally
Landcare, Bushcare, Coastcare, and Catchment groups run hands-on activities most weekends across Queensland. Tree plantings, weed pulls, beach clean-ups, most groups welcome newcomers with no experience needed.
Plant a tree, restore a patch
Get a few neighbours together and plant native species in your yard, street, or local park. Your local council or a local native nursery can help with species suited to your area.
Take part in citizen science
Programs like iNaturalist, Reef Check Australia, the Aussie Bird Count, and FrogID let anyone contribute real data to environmental research. A few minutes a month adds up.
Run an activity with your group
Schools, scouts, sports clubs, workplaces, and community groups can host a Queensland Environment Day activity, a clean-up, a workshop, a bushwalk. Pick a date around 5 June and let us know.
Reduce, reuse, repair
Try a Plastic-Free July, host a clothes swap, visit a Repair Café. Behaviour change at home is one of the highest-impact actions any of us can take.
Support local environment charities
Whether through donations, volunteering, or amplifying their work on social media, Queensland's environment groups need ongoing support, not just on Queensland Environment Day. Find groups on the QED Discovery Map.
